When East Bay Express decided to enter the Beer and Entertainment business by Launching EBX Bleeding Heart Lager and Club X, the door opened for BYE Entertainment Foundation to launch as well. Club X opens its doors April 17th; joining The Zeros at the all-ages Club X in Oakland will be iconic SF natives The Mutants and No Alternative. The following weekend April 23 & 24 will find BYE Entertainment bringing, Tori Fixx, Salvimex, Drew Mason, stand up comic Xebic, and local artist Xavier “X” Toscano and his dance troupe to the stage at Club X.
Garden Grove, CA (IFUEG) Wednesday, March 10, 2010 – BYE Entertainment Foundation jumped at the chance to help introduce this great new venue to the world by bringing their inaugural concert to the stage of Club X.
I know you are asking what makes a BYE Entertainment Foundation concert so special. Founder and CEO, Ray Gibb had this to say in answer;
“In 1990 co-founder and COO Richard Stuart started a movement back in 1990. Ok let’s back up just a little bit, in 1990 there was a social underground type role playing game going around, similar to “Dungeons and Dragons” called “Bob’s Deal.” Rich figured out away to take it over and use it to wakeup the public to a deadly disease killing his friends. On a hot August day Mr. Stuart anonymously dropped 10,000 flyers on Castro Street, in San Francisco. As the word spread about this deadly virus, the government finally had to acknowledge its existence.” Ray goes on to say, “What did Mr. Stuart get out of it, besides the satisfaction of knowing that the public would finally be told the truth. But no that is not what happened, Mr. Stuart became a living legend, after all isn’t that what it means when the hot bands of the day write songs about you, R.E.M. started it all with their album “Out of Time” and was immediately followed up with songs and albums by groups such as U2, Depeche Mode, local artist Del the Funkee Homosapien, just to name but a few, as this release would be way to long.”
Mr. Gibb finished up with, “So to continue the great work he began in the 1990’s we formed to organize concerts with some of the hottest bands available to entertain as we also educate and raise the desperately needed funds for research, treatment, and patient care. I put my event planning talents together with Mr. Stuart picking bands, to bring you HIV / AIDS Awareness and Richard Stuart Story “HAARSS.” 80% of net proceeds go to the Elizabeth Taylor HIV/AIDS Foundation and Millennium Promise for their AIDS projects, 10% goes to the documentary fund and BYE Entertainment retains 10% to cover administrative costs.”
To kick it all off we have a great line up for you; from the LA indie Label Big Milo Records we are bringing in:
Tori Fixx, is a producer and music artist who has released over 7 albums in his career. His music is a fashionable body of work that's not Hip-Hop, House or R&B. It's all of the above and represents all things trendy, funky, fast forward and queer. He has proven himself as an artist with keen pop sensibilities that continually transform musical perceptions.
In the mid-90s, Tori Fixx was the house DJ for Prince at his Paisley Park Studios in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Recording Artist, Producer, DJ (known as DJ Naughty Boy); Vocalist & Emcee has been heralded as the “most ready for prime time” by music critic Ernest Hardy (Vibe, Rolling Stone) in The Advocate. He has appeared on CNN and The Tyra Banks Show, and most recently opened for Kat DeLuna at the Twin Cities Pride Festival in 2009.
Salvimex (sell-vee-mex) is the original Spanish rap/hip-hop venture representing the merger of two countries; in other words, music, cultures, and traditions of Mexico and El Salvador. They represent the diversity and unity of not just these two countries, but much more. Music unifies them, and unity and peace through expression in music is the spirit of this group.
Salvimex’s intense and passionate live performances have left audiences screaming for more – even if they didn't understand the language the lyrics were being sung in! They have performed at the 37th Annual San Francisco LGBT Pride Festival Main Stage in 2007, Fiesta Caliente stage at 2008 Long Beach Pride Celebration, The GVII Awards @ Hollywood Celebrity Centre in 2008, and at the L.A. County Fair on opening day in 2009.
Drew Mason is Texas born and bred and he has music in his soul. He channeled his dreams into rap music and released two CDs independently prior to moving to California. He came out as gay rapper with his 2009 release on Big Milo Records, “The Paradigm Shift”. While his third release, it was the first in which he was “out” with his sexual orientation and it’s a no holds barred release of intense rap and passion.
Drew Mason’s “The Paradigm Shift” was considered “one of the Top queer CD releases of 2009" by the Dallas Voice magazine. His debut music video, for the song “This Music’s in My Soul” premiered on LOGO’s “New Now Next” music show and has been in the network’s top ten countdown, The Click List for two months charting as high as number 3.
Xavier Toscano has had a life long love of music. An all-around performer, he is an actor and dancer as well. In addition to his own music videos, he has also appeared as a featured and backup dancer for a number of other artists. He has appeared in national commercials for Nextel and NASCAR. In California, he has been featured in ads for Blue Shield, the California Public Utilities Commission, and many others. Xavier has also appeared in independent films throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Toscano believes that pop music is the soundtrack to our lives. It has the power to carve events in our lives in stone. When you hear a pop song from your past, it has the power to take you back. It brings back memories long faded into sepia back with a colorful pop, allowing the past to be instantly relived. That is what makes Toscano love music much. And that is the power he hopes to infuse into his songs.
Xebic is a Massachusetts native and has debuted as Josh in the film Boundaries of Attraction in 2009 at the Indie Fest USA International Film Festival in Anaheim CA. Although he has studied film acting on his own a majority of his life, he finally went for it for BOA. He has been in 5 Independent works since then such as “Garageland, Details, Office Rampage, Sunny Café, and The Lilloth Trilogy”.
Xebic decided to take the next step in the Fall of 2009 and relocate to Southern California where he has been doing standup comedy in various “dives” as he calls them, and also at private party’s. He is completely dedicated in his work and it shows when he performs in any capacity. He has been referred to as a chameleon of Artistic ability.
